Course Title: Food Hygiene
Course length – 3 hours
Maximum number to attend - 15
This course is aimed at all staff in health and social care.
At the end of the training session, there is a short written assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.
Introduction - Food Safety
· Understand the importance of food safety measures when providing food and drink for individuals to include:
o Food safety hazards
o Food safety measures
o Use of PPE
o Clearing and disposal of food waste
o Storage of food
· Be able to maintain hygiene when handling food and drink to include:
o Hand hygiene
o Effective handwashing
o Surface and utensil cleaning
· Describe practices to control hazards when preparing and serving food and drink to include:
o Food preparation
o Clearing away of food and drink
o Disposal of food waste
o Cleaning and storage of utensils and equipment
Storage of Food and Drink
· Describe practices to control food safety hazards when storing different types of food and drink.
