Course Title: Infection Control

This course is aimed at all staff in health and social care. 

At the end of the training session, there is a short written assessment to evidence the learning of the attendees.

Introduction - The Purpose of Infection Control

·         Define what is meant by infection prevention and control

·         Explain the importance of infection control within a health care setting

·         Explain the impact of an outbreak of infection on:

o   service users 

o   employees 

o   the health care setting 

Legislation

 

Describe workplace policies that relate to infection control

·         Describe procedures that are followed in workplace settings to control infection

Roles and Responsibilities

·         Describe the roles and responsibilities of:

o   employees 

o   employers 

o   specialist personnel 

·         Describe the boundaries of their roles and responsibilities in relation to infection control 

·         Outline the records which must be maintained in relation to infection control
